And on the 7th day, OMX Season 2 was completed.  So, in a continued effort to NOT be “all talk and no action” here is some of my own editorial work put on the line (now that the actual episodes are completed!) … a couple segments I personally edited for the show, produced by Amy Kossover for the North American Mission Board and aired on FamilyNet.

Under Amy’s very fine direction, the “On Mission Christian” segments for OMX have been a fun editing challenge, each pushed creatively to take on a personality reflected in narrative, bites & music selection and editing style. Thrilled to announce the creative team I work with in Atlanta has completed a new documentary short. The thirty minute special entitled, “A New Hope”, is part of the show, “On Mission Xtra”, and tells the story of how a bible college inside the walls of Angola Prison in Louisiana has transformed the institution from one of violence, into one of peace. If there are questions as to whether or not faith-based programs can have positive impact on state-run institutions, this story, more than any I’ve encountered, may answer those questions. The project is the concept of director, Herb Kossover, and was guided through production by producers, Amy Kossover, and Stephen Ostrander. I had the great pleasure of being associate producer and editor for the film. A sincere thanks to the media services leadership at the North American Mission Board for funding this piece and for letting the OMX creative team run with it. We hope to have additional airing opportunities in the near future, including the ability to watch the entire episode in its entirety via iTunes podcast.

This summer, I had the great honor to be a part of the winning team for two Southeast Regional Emmy Awards. What a pleasure it was to spend the evening with my wife and associates and walk away with two statuettes … surreal in so many ways. In some ways perhaps not a surprise,  given the excellent people and quality work I have somehow been blessed to be a part of this past couple years.

Congrats to producer, Amy Kossover, writer,  Lisa Cheater, and to the North American Mission Board Media Services Staff for a huge win in the Television Programming Excellence – Magazine Format for “On Mission Xtra”.  What a thrill to see a faith-affirming show chosen as a winner. I had the privilege of working as senior editor for the show and segment editor for the episode entered into the competition.  A sample clip from “The Main Event”can be viewed here.

ALSO, another big congratulations to  A. Troy Thomas of Inertia Films, Dr. Eric Groce, Salute America Inc. and the Museum of Aviation for an Emmy win in the Television Crafts Achievement – Photographer (Non-News) category for “Papa said, We should never forget.“  A fantastic thrill to see a piece I produced and Troy’s outstanding work as director of photography be honored by the NATAS Southeast chapter. Special thanks to many associates who helped along the way including:  Melissa Spalding, Marilyn Ashmore, Phil Walker, Darryl Mitchell and Michael Lines for their assistance with the project.

Time for me to put my $ where my blog is … perhaps a new expression for the blogger/twitter age! See a sample of a field segment I edited for the 12 episode FamilyNet series “On Mission Xtra”.

In addition to cutting a few of the field segments (samples here and on my VIMEO page), I also headed up the assembly of the episodes under the very fine direction of producer Amy Kossover of AK Films. The series focuses on the stories of missionaries working for the North American Mission Board funded by the Southern Baptist Convention.
